Leading Causes of a Heart Attack or Heart Disease

Heart Disease
Heart disease is a very important concern for people all other the world. Heart health should be something that is a very high priority for anybody, no matter their height, weight, or ethnicity. Under the umbrella of the term heart disease, there are many other ailments that can be found. One of the factors that is common in heart disease, is that it can lead to a heart attack in it is not treated. Here are some of the illnesses that fall under the term heart disease that may also cause a heart attack. Many people are unaware of this, but a heart attack is the leading cause of deaths in men and women all over the world. If we know what type of illnesses cause a heart attack, as well as their symptoms, then we can help to decrease the amounts of people that are suffering from these diseases.
1. Coronary heart disease – This occurs when plaque, such as cholesterol, builds up inside of the arteries. This will then interrupt the flow of blood to the heart, decreasing the amount of oxygen being transferred. With an insufficient amount of oxygen available, heart cells die, and that is called a heart attack. This type of heart attack might be prevented by exercise and a healthy diet. Consumption of foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol can lead to a build up of plaque inside of the arteries, and then a heart attack is just a matter of time.
2. Hypertension – This is basically high blood pressure, but it is a big factor in every heart disease and it is a likely to be a cause if a patient has a heart attack. Hypertension can also cause strokes, heart failure, and aneurysms. Like with many heart disease factors, this can be prevented with aerobic exercise and a healthy diet. Reducing stress and not smoking cigarettes should also help in reduction of blood pressure.
3. Ischaemic heart disease – When there is a reduced blood supply to the heart (due to aging, smoking, etc.), this heart disease occurs. The lowered blood supply will cause a heart attack in many cases, along with chest pain and a lowered tolerance to exercise. Heart failure is also common for this illness. Ischaemic heart issues are the number one cause of death in the Western world.
These are some of the leading causes for a heart attack, but they are not the only causes that exist out there. It is important to know the causes, symptoms, and prevention methods, especially if you are United States citizen. Heart disease is not only a leading cause of death in America, but the number of cases is almost three times the amount of cases in the United Kingdom. Increasing awareness will lay the groundwork, but then citizens need to take it upon themselves to exercise regularly and keep healthy diets. Otherwise, all the research going on will have had no purpose.
